I like everyone else here is trying to save a few bucks on cheaper pellets and Home Heating. I burn 3 tons and if I can save $50 a ton I can save $150.

Well I decided to look elsewhere to save money. I currently spend $40 a month for my phone with my internet cable company. Last week I decided to go with Basic Talk from Wallmart for my home phone over the internet. Basic Talk is $9.95 a month saving me $30 a month or about $360 a year. My phone number was seamlessly converted over in 4 days and they automatically cancelled my phone from my internet cable company. Using Basic Talk heavily for last 3 days, knock on wood, so far NO problems with voice quality.

Sounds like spam to me.

The little stuff adds up. Crazy how much web access and entertainment costs nowadays.

not only that, but all the extras push prices higher than the advertised specials. And they raise the prices n you after the contract ends. I'm still on $10/month cable, but internet went up to45.

yeah your not kidding. My verizon wireless bill is $270 for 4 phones. DirectTV is $160 , and now by Cable Internet (without phone) will be $57.. This is like a mortgage. Back in the old days we had a TV antenna on the roof and we were happy with 3 channels. My son's family has done away with TV almost by going to Netflix on internet.

We cut the cable tv cord 3 years ago by putting up 2 antennas, save $100 a month even with the cost of internet alone going up a bit from the bundle price. Went from paying $150/month for 2 cell phones on Verizon to two $30/mo plans on t-mobile (100 voice minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data, 1st 5gb at 4G/LTE). Use our Cumberland Farms Smart Pay card to save .10/gal on gas. I get dirty at work every day so I buy jeans at the thrift store for $3-$5 cause I'll probably only get a year's use out of them. Wife finds great clothes for one tenth the price of new at them as well. I try to do as many of the car and home repairs as I'm able to save $$ there.

pellet stove kept us warm at 70 degrees all winter for 25% less than the electric baseboard at 65 degrees. And we shop around every 6 months for cheaper electric delivery suppliers to keep costs down.

It can take a little work but it all adds up to decent savings every year.

I got the hotspot on my phone for my internet. My phone is no contract/$50 per month which includes 300 talk minutes, unlimited texting and data, and hotspot. I have to have cable where I'm renting to have basic channels and COX has already raised the rates on me in just a few months. I buy bulk and repackage where needed since it's just my child and me. I buy on sale and with coupons and save a bunch. I also buy holiday gifts off season and save a bundle (a little pre-planning goes a long way).

I tried to cut the cord but our reception stinks. Can't complain, $10/no is pretty good. Just basic local.

I've had Ooma internet telephone for 4 years now. Right now it costs $99 for the system and NOTHING after that. Zero, nada. Unless you want a second line and other fancy extras. You can't beat that and it's worked great for me. I've saved a bundle.
I was paying $280 a month for 4 smart phones through ATT until they offered a new plan that now costs me $190 total for the exact same service and data.

How is Ooma voice quality? They claim its the best.

I was thinking about going with Ooma. My son has it.

We use obi and anveo together $40 a year. The last couple years we used obi and google voice all was free device was about $60 if I remember correctly. Have thought about Ooma after google voice discontinued support but stuck with anveo for $40 a year.

We just have cable internet. We get the network channels for free over the cable internet they do not block them. Use netflix and amazon prime for things we want to watch. Cell is pay as you go tmobile and one cell that is the 30 walmart/tmobile plan.

TV is the expensive cost if you can go without the cable package big savings so are cell phones.

I will be saving THOUSANDS starting next year when my youngest turns 18 and my support payments stop.

I'm always looking to save extra $$, I'm only 28 and shackled to a mortgage payment for the next 25 years or so, I keep looking at all my bills and realize that at the end of the month I'm only able to save something like $200.00. I just learned that my local cable t.v. company which charges me $87.50 a month for basic bare bones service is upgrading the lines and now you need to have a box at every t.v. by the end of August, so no more splitters. They conveniently offer additional boxes for an extra $10.00 per month for each box. It just feels like every time I start getting ahead or feeling like I have something under control, something else beyond my span of control happens and I get milked for more $$.

Did a refi in '12 fixed at 3.37% only 3 years iour mortgage. Reduced monthly payment by $359/month.

We refinanced 3 times in the first 4 years we owned the house. Our original rate was 6.5%. Our first refinance cut that to 5.5%. The second to 4.75%. The third to 3.25% All together, we are saving over $600 per month.

You're doing 15 yr ?

We were offered a 15 but opted for a 30yr fixed, here's why. On a 30yr mortgage, I can always pay more to pay it off sooner. If I have a month where cash flow is a bit light, I can reduce my payment to the minimum amount due. If I go with a 15yr, I must pay the higher amount EVERY month.

oh,I was under the impression that 3.37 was the lowest it went for 30.

I looked up from my desk one day and a guy was leaning on the door frame grinning. "I just got the biggest raise of my life. My daughter is graduating from college."

A while later I looked up to see the same sight. "She is getting married. I am cutting up the credit cards."

Voice quality is very good. No complaints. It helps if your modem has a setting for Quality of Service so that it makes VOIP a priority over other traffic.. Not totally necessary but I read it helps. I have it on my new modem/router.

Just saved a bundle repointing 5 loose slate stones from my side doorway stairs. I don't know what I was waiting for, mixing mortar and using a trowel is easy and not an unpleasant job, I don't know why professionals charge so much for it. Now its on to my field stone driveway walls.
