How likely are you to try a new brand of softwood pellet?

I am asking this because I see a lot of folks on the forum mentioning they may not burn pellets next season. So if we can offer Hearth.com folks a heck of a deal to stay with wood pellets, just curious if folks have already made up their minds and what they plan on burning and if they are open to trying a new wood pellet. A simple questionnaire below.

Need to keep in mind, this forum is a small sampling of pellet users.

I can tell you that here, April sales were a little off from last April,
but only the first week in May, and orders are better than all last May.
We have been really pushing the "buy early"... Glad to see some people doing it.
Hopefully it will take some of the sting off the fall slam...

wow. that price point is where it needs to be for me.
i am assuming you are going to be plenty busy just making and selling these.
if there is any chance you can find someone interested in doing deliveries, then i would be very interested.
i already have more than a year's worth of pellets on hand, but next heating season i will drive over and get enough bags in the subaru to give me an idea how they work for me.

i have tried a few softwood pellets, and they were all more expensive than the MWP blend which heats just fine for me.
i really have determined that there is not enough "extra heat" in expensive pellets to allow me to burn at such a low rate on my three speed stove that i would even begin to start to approach saving money. for me, those other pellets are just me burning dollar bills i don't need to.
as it is, i pay $75 for delivery from downstate and i get 6 tons in a single delivery.
this year i paid $229 per ton.

i didn't finish the survey because i didn't want to commit to being someone who would definitely pre order, but my jaw did drop a little when i saw that *proposed* price point.
i'm just not in a position to haul all that i need.

but i am very interested in your product.
i look forward to meeting once you are taking customers.

edit to add - i have no plans whatever to heat with oil.

I think Maybe 1 out of every 20 people who claim they are selling the pellet stove will actually sell it...
Oil prices can rise way too quick at any given time.....

I've burned 100% softies the past 2 seasons - Crabbe's last year and LaCrete's this season, after burning the MWP blend the 2 seasons prior to that, and in my Quad stove the softies were a significant improvement in heat output. Even though we had a 28% increase in heating degree days in February this year compared to last Feb, (balanced out somewhat by 21% fewer HDD's in our warm December), I only burned a total of 5 bags more this season than last year (180 bags vs 175), and about the same amount of firewood, that we use to help heat the far end of our farmhouse that the pellet stove heat doesn't reach. I don't recall any of the last 6 winters burning as consistently late into the season as this year.

I did burn probably 50 - 75 more gallons of #2 fuel oil this winter on the coldest nights in January to keep the basement pipes from freezing, until we got enough snow to reduce the cold infiltration into our granite slab foundation. The years I burned blended pellets I burned 4 tons + another 25 - 30 bags of misc end of the season pellets each season, which were overall a good bit milder than the past 2 winters have been in New England.

I attest burning fewer pellets despite colder and longer winters of recent to the excellent heat output of the 100% softie LaCrete's, though they did produce more ash than I thought they should for the price, but it was super light and easy to clean from the stove and venting. Our room temps probably averaged 5 - 7 degrees warmer burning quality softies vs blended pellets. I've also figured out that keeping your stove borderline OCD clean (thanks to this fine forum), certainly maximizes the heat output. That, together with not having to mess with clinkers, and rarely having to scrape the burn pot given their complete combustion, it was definitely worth it to burn 100% softie pellets, IMO.

For folks like me whose stove BTU output capabilities are at the limit of the sq ft heating demands of my drafty 1870's New England farmhouse, and / or those who don't like having to clean the stove so often, the 100% softies are definitely worth it. I won't burn anything else. That said, "some like Ford's, some like Chevy's"......

Ditto here. That's one of the advantages of owning a Harman! Saving money on pellets because you don't need to be too picky.
