i installed my furance ductwork running about 85 feet at the max and cold air return theromstate and ss flue,it was about 7 or8 sundays to finish it(i had a helper i would say 120hrs of work)

For a hundred bucks, I had no hesitation in employing my certified sweep. who, by the way is also a certified carpenter. we did it together and no regrets.

I installed 2 non EPA stoves with single wall pipe...I had the new EPA stove installed mostly cause it was a whole lot heaver and I never worked with double wall pipe before.

DMO-'Did my Own' last year- and yes, those stoves be heavy. Had my nephew help me with the last piece of double-wall as it was bulky and far-far up in the air.
Took quite a bit of 'grunt' to get that last piece on top.

I paid a neighbor who's a sweep to clean & inspect my chimney, he pointed me towards the parts to get for an insulated stainless liner setup for my Avalon installed in a brick fireplace, I did the install myself.

I was 25 when I built my first stove and installed it in an old (read as nearly ready to cave in) house that was on an uncle's ranch. Later, after getting married, I moved to a different ranch and I more or less rebuilt a huge coal burner and used it for 10 years. That rig was awesome!

Now that I have moved again to help take care of my mother's dairy operation, we now live in a classic double wide home on the range fully furnished with the tin can fire place. That is soon to change. Near my desk is a new Lopi Leyden in brown and a small assortment of pry bars, hammers and a book on how to install tile.

I'm doing my own. But I really can't count it as an install. All I'm doing is picking one up and moving a new one in. Then replacing the stove pipe. Not too much thought involved there.

When I bought the house the the install was complete with a Mama fisher stove. 10 years old at the time. Had it for one season. Ate lots of wood gave lots of heat and left lots of soot to get the long burns. Got tired of cleaning the chimney once a month at -30 on the roof so went EPA and a glass door. Installed the Napoleon myself. Putzed with it for two and a half heating seasons and turfed it into my shed for preheating my Quad for plowing snow. Bought the BlazeKing and installed it myself to my existing
chimney. Never looked back. THE END

I installed my PE T6 this spring, I also installed the factory chimney (Lowes), too. Believe it or not me and my brother installed the T6 ourselves, only using an appliance dolly. It is installed on a 10" high platform. Fortunately for me, both he and I have LOTS of experience moving and heavy objects with little to work with.

Dealer install for 2 reasons.

1.) insurance company required it
2.) that Isle Royal is HEAVY and it had to come up steps.

That was a simple disconnect and connect. I screwed together a couple 45's. The telescoping pipe made it no big deal. Moving it was more work than installing.

I Put an addition on the house myself including full foundation and concrete slab floor on steel I beams. Built a masonry chimney and fireplace surround myself and installed the antique 105 year old stove. Did all trades myself including electrical, roofing ,siding ,framing, concrete, HVAC, etc. I dont pay anyone to do anything I find when I do it is never done to my high standards and I always have to rip it out and re do.

Intrepid is a smaller stove....not bad for 2 people.
liner was going up the chimney so that was easy... block off plate was a PITA.
hearth extension was easy, to set up but I am not a concrete guy... father in law did that.

its a little worrysome knowing... "I did it... so I better keep an eye on it" but after a few burns my confidence went up.
and it was good to know it was done the way I wanted. ie installers didnt think i should insulate liner... i wanted to.
and I saved a ton of money in supply (liner/insulation) alone.

AND I NEVER COULD HAVE (or would have) DONE A THING.... without this site
