I have a 13 year old Fiskars splitting axe. There are no numbers on it and i think it is 30" . It has been great however it is old and I have abused it a little. I hit it alot with a 5lb sledge to start a split. Today I ordered the x27, a longer version of the same axe.

I know these are lifetime axes, and i sharpen it alot, however the top is running out of edge, Has anyone else bought a new one? Is there any difference.

The X27 head has somewhat different shape and is slightly lighter the original super splitting axe.

The steel seems to be the same on between the two models. I will note that I don't have the latest all black version of the X27.

I don't know about the older fiskar splitting axes but the newer ones say that you are not supposed to hit them with a hammer or sledge. I have been using the x27 for one year. It has been wonderful. I have split about 6 cords with it and have not sharpened it yet. Still works like new.
