Husky 142E lost compresion. FIXED!!!!

My Husky 142E was running nice and...it sounded like it was going to run out of gas. so..
I turned it off and ...the rest of the pain trying to restart we will not go into. It has spark, when I hold it by the starter rope it creeps its way down.
I was once told that it meant bad compression.
Do I try to fix it???
I just bought a new bar and two chains...
Is the Jonsered # CS 2238 close and can I run my bar and chain on it?
Oh what to do..

Can you get a gauge and check compression? I think Autozone has them as free loaner tool. Harbor Freight has them cheap - not great quality but good enough for occasional use. Right now, I'd orient saw with piston vertical and pour 2 tablespoons of Marvel Mystery Oil in spark plug hole. The solvent can free a sticky ring.
 
So i put the mystery oil in .
How long do I let it sit?
I"m thinking Next run the piston up and down?
Do I then try to start it?

Just move piston 1/2' up, 1/2" down a few times, then let sit over night.
 
Does it have a Briggs engine? This could be a major coincidence but read my post from a few weeks ago:

I read somewhere that it is tough to compression check these engines because of the easy start feature. To get a rough idea of compression you can spin the flywheel backwards if you remove the pull cover and you should bounce back.

No, most saws will creep slowly down like that. If the saw just dropped like a rock, that would be problematic, but slowly easing down.... thwup........ thwup......... thwup..... that's normal. It doesn't sound like compression is the problem.

That said, if you decide not to fix it you can always ship it to me... :)

So if I mix sea foam and marvel mystery oil will if get fixed faster?
 
No, neither of those is likely to do anything for you, separately or in combination.
 
pull the muffler an peek inside. front of the piston scarred up? Cylinder scratched? Top end time.
 
Mystery Oil trick worked.;)
I also cleaned the air filter.
It started up once again!
