Husky 50 good saw??

Have an oppurtunity to grab a Husqvarna 50 in reasonably
good shape. Wondering what everybody thinks about this
saw. Any firsthand reviews would be awesome.

what color is the top cover?

any chance of the serial number?....or pic of the saw or serial no. plate?

Top cover is gray/black.
The serial number is 5150486

According to Husqvarna's website, the model 50 was launched in 1978 and was the predecessor for the current model 55. Not sure of the year they stopped making the 50 or if it was unique to any specific international markets. The non-orange cover makes me wonder though...I haven't seen any Huskies that weren't orange.

I have one, it's about 20 years old. I cut about 2 cords of firewoood a year with it. It doesn't run well now because I let someone borrow it and they ran a half a tank of straight gas in it. Not the saws fault, but I would still be using it today if it wasn't for that.

the grey top saws that had the choke button that slides in the top cover were a little tricky to start and the air filters were known to fall off their mount while running,plus the choke slider button would cut holes in the air filter too. the all orange top cover models with a choke pull lever were the best.the model is still available but not in the usa.
