So today was kind a cool day mid 50s. House was about 65 when we got home. My wife and daughter begged for a fire. I admit I was itching too, the say it will be 36 tonite. Needless to say four small/medium pieces of red oak and here we are. Now it's 72 in the house and I have a dilemma load it for the night or let it die out?

I’d just set it on low and forget about it. 72 is a good temp.
I’m having my first fire of the season as we speak. Lovin’ it!

I wish I was in your club, maybe one day....

This time of year I try to do the one and done fires ... enough to warm up the home. A decently insulated home will retain a lot of that heat this time of year. About the only time I screw up and overheat the house is when I decide to reload the stove during this time of year.
