Got a phone call from a buddy. Said he knew where we could get some great Ash. A lot of Ash. Loaned my truck out to my FIL for the day (I know - ) so it's only fair that I stuffed his rather nice V6 Accord with 3 saws, my milk crate of assorted wood cutting stuff, chaps, helmet, cant hook, and refreshments. Pictures of the tree, didn't think to get any of the car.

Got a couple truck/loader loads back to the splitting area (off the course).

At least he was hauling some wood of his own, he picked up some beautiful Maple slabs for his new workbench he will be building. He's good with a saw too, table saw, circ saw, jig saw, band saw. Chainsaws are beneath him I guess.

I'm not much of a woodworker, chainsawing is about my most precise work... but I have a SIL who does great finish work. Different strokes...!

Good MM! That tree had lots of limbs for sure. One good reason I love to cut inside the wood line where they are mostly straight but the big thing is not many limbs to cut up. Nevertheless, that is some good wood.

I'm anxious to get thru all this dang Irene Hemlock I've been burning. Think I've got another 6 or 8 pallets till I get to some really nice ash I cut last winter. of course.. by that point.. It will be 9 cords in to this year's wood.. heck.. I may not make it this year.

This one was dead standing on a golf course, high traffic area too. We saw it in decline for the last couple years and this winter got the green light to take it down. Took the two of us the better part of an afternoon to get it broke down. Now just a lot of hauling and splitting to do.

Good stuff there Dennis - I too, have a golf course full of ash that needs to come down. My friend owns the course and we have been waiting 2yrs for a real winter and solid ground freeze to get equipment onto the course and get as much as we can. Upside is the fairways make for great cutting. No trees to hang up on and access to all sides!!

Most of my heat has come from ash and will continue like that for many years to come due to the darn devil beetle that has nuked the ash population in Michigan.

Actually I've cut very little ash this year. Still trying to clean up stuff that has fallen. That July storm we had made a mess of our woods, like it wasn't already a mess enough with all the dead ash.
