I need a method of securing my DVL damper fixture to my stove collar

This first section of my DVL stove pipe has a damper installed and needs to be attached to the collar of my stove. Perhaps I didn't need a damper with my NC13 Englander stove, but non the less it is there. Screw attachments are dicey as they might impede the proper function of my damper. Have others come across this problem and if so, how did you handle it?
