I have been heating with firewood going on six seasons and I burn 10 full cords a year. I buy logs by the truckload and then cut split stack, etc. I have been splitting with a cub cadet 27 ton splitter which worked fine but was just slow with that amount of wood to split. Plus, it didn’t have side tables or any other fancy stuff. So I stepped up and bought a little bigger machine. She is an Eastonmade 9–16 and she is a monster. 14 hp, seven second cycle time, electric start, hydraulic log lift, hydraulically, adjustable, and interchangeable wedge. (I went with the tall four-way wedge.) and a nice big out feed table. That sucker is heavy – 2300 pounds but it chews through the wood! I’ve had it for 24 hours and I am happy so far!
