Hi All, My 1st post & I'm enjoying all the fun stuff here. My question... Is a steel stud wall with Hardi board & slate considered flammable? Without off setting the the stove pipe or cutting into my engineered trusses & re-frameing to fit the chimney support box,I would be only 9" from the current flammable wall after installing the clearance reduction system where 12" min. is required. The wall is an open room divider that can easily be re framed with steel studs. Thanks. If it would be helpful,I'm trying to figure how to insert photos. I see no "small tree"

If there are no combustible components in the wall then it is non-combustible.

Thanks for the reply. Makes sense to me & with what I've read here the components I mentioned were to be used as a reducer. I am kind of suprised that option isn't brought up more often.

Clearances and clearance reduction is a common question here. There is a page in the articles forum which is frequently referenced in those threads.

Yes begreen, I've read many of them, the primer & downloaded NFPA211 but was unable to conclude I was OK. I'm glad to know I'm one of many who is concerned about problems that may arise if the basics aren't followed. This is gonna be fun. Many thanks !!

You are already ahead of many by reading up on options. Ask questions if something is unclear.

10-4 I am quite pleased to have found this page.. I've already experienced several Pavlov's Puppies episodes, perticualy in the wood shed.
