The fossil industry sees the writing on the wall and spending big bucks to delay renewables. They know that they can only get hit hard for years of hiding their research on global warming while saying it was not an issue until there is aviable alterntive.

Politics makes strange bedfellows.

This has been happening for a long time. The claims are often totally unfounded, but intentionally sow seeds of doubt. The fossil fuel industry is also heel-dragging with greenwashing its efforts to make it look like they are good guys, while they continue seriously bad practices like methane emission. It's ironic that those same parties were gung-ho for offshore oil drilling permits. There was no word about seismic testing, pollution, or whale kills then.

Politics and money have been in bed for a long time--but we're usually the ones getting screwed, at the expense of advancement. 😒
You know the old saw, "Money is the root of all evil." That may be a stretch, but the pursuit of money is certainly the root of a lot of it, from personal relationships on up.
Then you have politicians that are "pro-business;" Is that based on a philosophy, or the fact that big businesses have or control most of the available money? 🤔😏

Oh if you only knew what is happening with big pharma / big food and the FDA. Put your tinfoil hat on sometime and go for a ride on the internet, dig into it.

Or dont, you might be better off not reading into it :)

Indeed and rapidly. Moved the chitchat to the Inglenook.
