As seen in the photo the wooden support beam is 15 1/2 inches above the top of the insert .The area in the center gets very hot when the blower isn't running should I raise it to a higher level to be on the safe side . Thanks
 
sorry, no photo. But yeah, check out pyrolization of wood. It basically says that the more heat wood is exposed to over time, the lower the flash point gets. Either heat shield it or raise it, if it gets "very hot". Warm is probably fine. Hot is not.
