is a pedestal neede????????

i have a country comfort wood stove taht i bought off of craigs list 2 weeks ago and i have finally gotten the manual for it and it all the pictures that are listed in the manual it shows the stove on a pedestal, with a blower an all. when i purchased it it did not have a pedestal with the blower. do i need to have a pedestal with the one that i have? if so does it matter which one i buy? or can it sit with out it? not sure if i need to go and get one? any help would be greatly appreciated.... model # cc200

ok i called that number and that is not a distributor of the stove i have. i thought they dont make them anymore??? so the i still need to know if i need a pedestal or not? . do i need to have a pedestal with the one that i have? if so does it matter which one i buy? or can it sit with out it? not sure if i need to go and get one

It is a fireplace insert. It does not use legs or a ped. Without a blower it is pretty much a very heavy doorstop.

even though the manual shows that there is a pedestal? are you telling me that i cant use this as a free standing stove?

I do not know if you can use an insert like a free-standing, and if you could, I do not think it would pass inspection.

As for your manual, I know some stove companies produce both a free standing and an insert version of there stoves.
The Harman Exception is one example of this.

In the manual the model has a pedistal attached with a blower. No Where in the manual does it say that this is a insert or can only be used as an insert.

You have a Country Comfort CC150 free-standing stove, vintage late 80's. It originally came with a pedestal. The blower was optional.

The manufacturer was Orrville Products, 375 East Orr Street, Orrville, Ohio, (216) 683-4010, but I believe they're out of business now.

Several stove companies offer models with a choice of bolt-on pedestal or legs, (Englander, Travis Industries, PE and others) so maybe a pedestal could be purchased from one of them and modified to fit the CC150. Check with your local code authority to see if they would smile upon the resulting patchwork stove.

The CC150 was certified to Oregon and Colorado EPA standards, but I don't know if it was ever tested to current Federal EPA Standards. It scored 6.6 grams/hr in the Oregon test, so it is no smoke dragon, but you should probably check with your local EPA office to see if they'll allow the installation (it would not be legal to install here in Washington State).

I think the thing you have in the picture is an insert. The pic in the previous post only vaguely resembles what you have shown in YOUR pic.

We had a chance to look at the bottom and it looks like a pedestal was attatched at some point.has old marking of a previous pedestal. We are going to see if local dealer has one that will fit. Also the manual that came with the stove shows several different installs like a freestanding stove not as a fireplace insert. But I will call Dan at follsabee steel in the morning to verify that it is not an insert and what we could use as a pedestal. I will keep u posted

ok so here is the deal... i called follanbee steel and spoke to dan and he told me that if the manual shows the stove with a pedestal then it is a freestanding stove and not an insert... now the question is where can i get a pedestal for the stove that i have. anyone have any suggestions?

ok we have a solution. i spoke to our inspector in out area and he stated that we could use a material that is non combustiable (brick, cement blocks or something of that sorts) since we do not have the pedestal or legs. so does anyone have any suggestions as to what type of material to use that can withstand high heat and wont break down because of the heat? anyone have any pictures that may help with building out pedestal?

You could have a local welding shop make up something for you. Paint it black with high heat paint, and it'll look like it belongs there.
