Is fireplace efficiency really that bad?

Hey Wooddust, I'm with you on the beer, bourbon, pie and tractor, but I couldn't bring myself to feed a fireplace monster all that wood anymore and get no heat out of it now that I know what I can do with a nice woodstove with a big piece of glass on the front...
 
a second bourbon can get you past that....

I get to feed the fireplace at home and feed two woodstoves at the farm/cabin. Its like the best of both worlds.
