I pretty sure I don’t have a Class A pipe in the attached picture, but I’d like to make sure. I was able to snap a picture of the U.L. label on the outer galvanized pipe which I think says Class B. Any thoughts? I’ve read that Class A has a stainless steel inner pipe and Class B has an aluminum inner pipe with both having galvanized pipes for the outer. Is there a way to tell if the inner pipe is as or aluminum?

If I have class B, can I keep the outer galvanized pipe and slide in a Class A rigid or do I have to replace both?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

That is not class a chimney. There is no way you could properly support the new chimney according to manufacturers instructions with the old pipe in place.

What are you trying to do? Are you installing a freestanding woodstove?

Yes, wanting to install a free standing wood stove after removing a ZC fireplace.
Good idea. You need to replace the existing chimney with class A chimney pipe.
