Is there any reason why....?

Is there any reason I can't mount a temperature sensor like https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php?ACT=24&fid=2&aid=65046_OfvKVCn4on40AfmFaxny&board_id=1 on the side of the stove where it is single walled? it would be near the top and front, where the fire bricks aren't I am trying to find both a spot that gives accurate temperatures and isn't in the way.

The top is double walled so that's out.

Any thoughts?

The stove top is usually the hottest area of the stove, that is why most most the thermo there. On inserts like I have, I use the front upper corners just above the door, as I ahve no access to the top for a good reading.
