It's not a step stool

Initially I thought that log tray (or whatever it's called) was suppose to slope down to clear the door. Once I put the fan up to the stove I realized it is suppose to be level.

Someone used it as a stepping stool. I don't know who it was but that someone is much heavier than my wife and I. Probably shorter too.

The fan is just sitting below that plate. The easiest way to bend the plate back is probably going to be an oxy torch and heat.

BTW: This is the second stove with a flaw.
