Hello, long time lurker looking for some advice and insight on installing my 1998 Jotul 3.
I have the Jotul flue adapter I’m trying to connect to double wall pipe. I don’t have a piece of double wall here yet. I’ve read some people say to ditch the adapter and attach the double wall right to the flue collar. Looking online it doesn’t appear there is much meat ln the double wall to make this work.

The double wall adapter has about 1/4” slip back and forth on the flue collar, nothing is snug, nothing is secure, air gap is big. Any photos or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

If the stove pipe is better, then don't use the adapter.

I used the rear connection for my Jotul 3cb. The Jotul adapter you picture on the top port looks like an iron piece. Not familiar with that. My adapter provided by Jotul is a heavy sheet metal reducer that fits snuggly to the back of the stove and standard 6 inch pipe fits snuggly over it. No gaps. Just used sheet metal screws to secure appropriately. My guess is you need the Jotul reducer to insert into fitting you picture atop the stove then your exhaust pipe will fit snuggly over the reducer.

Do you have a picture by chance ?

Yes, this is a common complaint about the DVL adapter. It won't work on our stove's flue collar either but the straight DVL pipe, without the adapter, works well.
