We just bought a Castine last spring and we are just starting to get used to our new "friend." Heat pump has not come on in 2 weeks - what are we going to do with all of our extra money?

Anyway, where does the primary air come into the stove. The manual states "Primary air enters the firebox directly above the glass panel on
the door." How does that work? We are new to this, so we are in learning mode.

Im most of the stoves today with the "air wash" systems, air is drawn in from an opening in the back of the stove through channels over the top of the stove which pre heats it before it enters into the firebox through multiple ports located in a narrow slot all along the top of the glass. This provides a sheet of air between the glass and the fire which serves both to protect the glass from soot but also to provide the primary air supply for the firebox.

So does the primary control lever regulate the amount of air coming in through the back of the stove?
