Hi all,

I’ve bought my home 5 years ago. It came with a Jotul 3 Classic Direct Vent installed in the den. It has worked perfectly through the years, but I am running into trouble with operating it this season.

I was able to successfully relight the pilot light. However, even with the flame height setting turned to high, the burner is emitting a very weak blue flame. The burner section closest to the glass door takes at least 5 or 10 minutes to catch a flame.

Are there any troubleshooting steps specific to this model I should take? I noticed posts about spider webs causing these issues in other Jotul models, but couldn’t find information around removing the burner for this model.

I truly appreciate the help in advance! Thank you

Tony

Have you checked the gas pressure at the valve? Is there an in line shut off that mat be partially closed? Have you pulled the burner & burner orifice to ensure the gas line to the burner is clear?

As far as taking it apart honestly you can do it or you can't. Not everyone is comfortable or capable of serving their own gas appliances and you need to know your limitations and know when to call a pro. From a technician standpoint this is an extremely easy stove to take apart and fix. If you are you going to try and tackle it take pictures as you go so reassemble is easier. You will need a deep socket maybe 1/2" to remove the burner orifice iircc and you will need to support the back side of it while you turn it. If you have a manometer check gas pressure in and out. And if that is all good you are looking at a blockage
