Stove will not light, cleaned gas inlet, tested the thermopile and it is at 415Mv and with on switch on goes to about 180Mv which I know is low. If I rock the on/off switch it will light but it takes 3 or 4 and sometimes 8 times rocking. How do you test the switch? Want to make sure the switch is good before replacing thermopile.
Thanks,

Pull the switch. Touch the spade connectors together if you can,
or jump them with a small piece of wire, or a paper clip.
If the stove lights immediately, then it's probably the switch.
If it still acts hinky, it could be the wiring.
Your mV reading IS low. Have you tried turning up the pilot
with the adjustment screw on the valve?

Color? You don't really care about the color.
You need to make sure it is strong enough
to generate the mV you need to make the unit
perform to its capabilities.
