Hi,

I recently bought a jotul gf 400 bf on natural gas and we think the flames are a bit low.

We set the flames on maximum but there is still alot of blue and not so much yellow flames. The heat is not a problem, it gets pretty warm fast.

It could be that the flames are good as supposed, but I do not have any references.

The installation guy said everything is set up according the manual.

Does anyone has the same and can compare? Or has anyone an idea this is as good as it gets?

Thank you for the help!

Try locating the air shutter adjustment & close it in 1/16” increments. Wait about 5-10 minutes for the flame presentation to respond. If it’s still too blue make another adjustment. Repeat until you get the presentation you want & secure the locking screw. If you see that the flames are too orange & have black tips, open the shutter to prevent soot buildup.

It is only a 27,000 btu input (if I did the conversion properly) so that's not going to be a huge flame. You have nice blue flame with yellow tips so the air looks right to me. The marketing picture is nice though. Make sure you done have any holes plugged with embers, or remove all the embers sticks ect and try just the gas burner itself.

No that is a small flame for that stove. Did the technician measure gas pressure in and out on the control valve? Verify proper burner orifice? (They come off the truck set up for NG but could be a mistake. And check for blockage.
