Hey there,

I just bought a Harman Advance that works great and I paid $600. Is this a fair price? I live in a brick colonial built in 1817, it's approximately 2800 SF. It has a tall and wide chimney on each corner of the house. The house is designed so each room has access to a chimney (upstairs and down) with the exception of one bedroom and 2 bathrooms. I also have a Vermont Castings, Resolute that I burn wood in that is on it's own chimney. The installation guide says I can install it through a fireplace and just seal off the damper around it with a steel plate and that the pipe doesn't have to go all the way to the top if the local authority doesn't require it. My chimneys are very tall though and I'm wondering if the exhaust gasses from the pellet stove will be warm enough to make it out, There is a very strong natural draft in all my chimneys.

Hey AcadiaV
Welcome to the world of pellets. That is a good price for a working Advance. My Advance is 2008 and is still working. The Advance takes a little longer to clean than other Harman's.

Sorry my house doesn't have any fireplace chimneys. My pellet stove pipe goes out the wall and points down.
