The local Husky dealer told me about the wife who came in to buy some chaps after her husband cut himself and ended up in the ER. After finding out the price of the chaps, her comment was "I'll pass, that's more than the cost of the ER deductible"......

After taking a slice out of the side of one boot toe a year or so back, and just touching new dungarees with moving chain early this past summer, with no injury to speak of, I decided I'd used up too much luck. Dropping splits on one particular toe got to be a nuisance recently, too.

Kevlar chaps arrived this summer. Kevlar-lined chainsaw boots arrived recently. It'll take a while to break in the boots, but I'll manage. They are warm and waterproof, and have serious treads. Both were expensive, first-line quality from Labonville.

No matter the ER charges, there's the pain, suffering, and expense of reconstructive micro-surgery, physical therapy, and all that stuff. Or a prosthesis. No thanks. (Wifey's conclusion seems very cynical; she needs an up-close demo.)

I dreamed about my insert for 3 or 4 years before I bought it. In that time I aquired 2.5 cords of elm, built my wood stacking area, and drew up numerous plans on how to remodel my fireplace area for the Quad.

My preference is full length fallers pants. The full length pants offer more protection and when bucking in a brushy area, the chaps seem to get hung up more.

My chaps go all the way from my ankles to my waist, same length as your full length pants. They just don't have any protection on the back of the thigh and seat. Your chaps seem awfully short.

There is nothing wrong with you, instead you are doing it the right way. When you do get a stove, you'll have seasoned wood waiting to be burned! Good for you!

You are right the chaps are short and are probably 25 years old. Fallers pants have improved greatly over that time frame and sounds like chaps have to.
