Just when I thought I could shut down for the season

I've not burned the wood stove on over a month, it's been cold enough 3-4 days a week but I'm mostly out of wood so I've been lazy and letting the gas boiler kick in as needed.

Came home tonight and it's cold in the house 60 degrees and low 40's outside. Snoop around it it appears the electronic ignition for the gas boiler is broke - it will not start - sigh.

Fired up the trusty wood stove and it's at 70 now. Debating on waiting till fall or not to call the boiler guy. For now I'm finishing up my stash of Eco Blocks and borrowing some of the wood I have split/stacked drying for next year - black walnut now in the low 20's moisture readings.

Gunna be below 32 degrees starting Wednesday in Michigan for a few days again at night. Gatta fire the little beast up again probably at night.

Here in western NC we had temperatures up in the 80s a couple of weeks ago and I've had to build three fires since then when we dipped back down into the 30s. No reason to sit around in a cold damp house when you've got a woodstove parked in the living room!

I will probably run the propane furnace here on out if I need to. It has been warm all April but the warm air has brought a ton of rain we don't need. Colder and drier this week but since I have went through and dusted the whole house for the last time, I don't think I want to run the stove.........

here in the U.P. im still buring buring strong. last couple weeks have been pretty warm but still 20s or 30s at night so been at least one fire per day. today is cold and wet, house was 63 this morning so we got a nice hot fire goin.

Back to burning again this morning after two cloudy rainy days the house has cooled down and we are very windy and highs only in the upper 50's today. Wife is happy to be able to sit next to the stove again so life is good.

Just lit the stove 45 and misty rain, house is 62 and feels chilly, not really damp. This doesn't bother me because I still have wood in the garage and I rather burn it now then restack it later

Cold, rainy, and dank here in NH. Fired up the woodstove and burning off the rest of the pellets in the Harman hopper. Probably shut down the Harman SOON - still have 75 or so bags left and will keep for next season. Have 4+ cords of wood left over for next and 4 cords ordered. In the groove...

Still burning ... and there is still some snow in the back yard ...,but not much and the woodstove is down to 1-2 fires a day ... ran the oil boiler on a few days when temps were forecast to be warm. We're getting there.

Been well over a week I think since I've had a fire, have enjoyed having windows open during the daytime as well. When I got home from work this morning it was 55 in my house (36 out) and i debated it but said the heck with it and just put a space heater on a 4 hour timer in the bedroom. I see its going to be 30's overnight for several days so the house is probably going to get even colder. Clicked on the pellet stove before I went into work tonight. I already pulled my insert out when I started measuring things to put an Ideal Steel on order, so no woodburning for me for a while except the pellet stove.

Above average temps in MN until this week. Today 30's with flurries. Fired up the stove for the first time in a month. Cold beer, warm stove, NHL playoffs.... Life is good.

Still doing 2 fires a day most of the time. Once in a while we will get a warm enouph day that I do not have to do a night fire.

Same story here. Woke up to friggin' sleet/snow this morning & muttered "Go back to Farch where you belong!"
(Farch is a term coined by my Sister for the end of winter, brown snowbanks, can't remember what the sun looks like, enough already late Feb & March season of climatic purgatory that afflicts us every year.)
I pretty much stopped burning April 1'st or 2'nd as I was tired of it, as usual & just said "thank you" to the early spring temps, "I'll let the gas man take it from here."
Fired-up again last night after a couple chilly & very windy days.
I have the remains of a sturdy palette in the stove right now & enough oak for a few more fires on the deck. I would have had to move it anyway, so might as well burn it. After that I'll be done for Real!

Yep, fired up the stove tonight also. The house just felt cold when i walked through the door. This will be my first fire in about a month. It's nice and toasty in here now! Looks like the next few nights are going to be about the same here.
