Question:

Hello. We have a wood stove and use a kettle with water to keep the air moisturized. It gets full of rust after a while. What can we put into the kettle to prevent rust, and, what can we put in it to deodorize the air?

Answer:

Not much you can do if the pot is plain cast-iron. You can repaint it with stove or BBq paint and it may last awhile before rusting again.

You can buy pouporri in most gift or fireplace stoves and add it to your water. Different scents are available.
