Just broke ground for a replica 1910 Craftsman house in lower NY State (outside Pt Jervis), and have planned for a particular woodburning fireplace, the DESA "Mosaic Masonry" zero clearance with wood nook below.
We've roughed out some visual ideas for a decorative concrete surround, extended mantle and raised hearth with a somewhat contemporized Tudor/Arts & Crafts feeling. Noncombustible material can be either precast or cast in place. (Framing to be 2x6 w/2x10 i-Joists; no suporting slab for this job.)
Recommendations for someone experienced w/custom surrounds and this fireplace who cd do a good job wd be appreciated.
Thank you, Mark
