Leaf Blower Cleaning Worked Too Well

I did the per ton/monthly cleaning today along with last minute house winterizing stuff and snow thrower prep work. This was my first time using a leaf blower to help clean the exhaust. Better to go through the motions early and in dry conditions for practice rather than doing the roof do si do and Home Depot shuffle in several feet of snow.

I got the desired effect of a train of smoke billowing out of the blower but the blower worked so well that it pulled all of the pellets already loaded into the auger and dropped them into the firebox. I'm not complaining, just noting the suction power of the leaf blower.

I do intend on using the included leaf blower bag to capture the soot for the next ton, but I wanted visual gratification the first time. Kind of like the first time you put a bottle of Seafoam in your intake and go for a drive through the neighborhood.

Toro Ultra 12A variable speed. $69 on Amazon. I wonder if Toro knows how awesome their leaf blower works in applications other than blowing leaves.

If they knew the Lawyers would be busy writing up a disclaimer not responsible for over sucking vacuum switches and polluting the air if used to clean stoves. I think either Sears or Kmart has deal of the day on their electric blower for $30 or so.

I too did the LB Trick for the first time in Sept after my deep cleaning. Amazing how there is still all that fine dust in there. Toro probably ran for 5 minutes before the air was coming out clean.

I bought a leaf blower for this year but health issues made me not able to use it, so next year I will give it a try, I think I bought the one above,

Not sure if using the bag is a good idea. Most of the soot is probably gonna end up all over YOU. Take a vid if you try it

I have what you would call a less then friendly neighbor so when I did the leaf blower thing
I could already hear the phone ringing with calls of..." you got black stuff all over my house"
even though its plenty far away...so what I did was get a couple cheap pillow cases
and duct taped them to the leave blower tube....worked very well, and I managed to stay clean
in the process !

You haven't learned that smoke can't be seen at night

I didnt want to mess up my vacuum bag so I just put one pillow case inside another, wet them down a little and blew the ash into it.......kept the neigbors happy!
