Picked up a mint Winslow and liked it enough to keep it. Not happy with the convection blower output I pulled it to clean it and was surprised to find it was only 1,650 rpm. Most stoves I work on have 3,000 rpm convection fans. Did someone replace this with a slower fan? I can't find specs for the original anywhere. Anyone familiar with this stove please chime in. Thanks

Mine is only a year old and has all the original parts - 1650 rpm on the blower. If you or anyone else upgrades the blower, I'd love to hear how it works out. Though we're pretty happy with heat output currently, it would definitely be something to consider.

And now you understand my complaints :D

honestly, 4 is the only setting worthwhile for any air movement.

Just use a thermostat set it to 72... Put the stove on high, clean it once a week and forget it.....it is a simple a stove as they come. Not the best and not the worst. Take of it and it will take care of you. Anything below 15° and it struggles to heat my 1900sft open rancher. It burns pretty much anything you put in it. If you use cheap Pellets just means you clean it more. I see all the post about other stoves "put the room temp on this and the bottom three numbers on that" with this once you hook it to a stat turn it on high and hit the start button. Even I can't mess that up....lol

I'm not interested in running a thermostat. I have disconnected the blower from the control board and connected it to constant power through a fan controller. That way I can run it on high even though the stove is on 1 or 2. That is better but still doesn't have the output my old Whitfield had.
If I change the blower to a higher rpm I am concerned it will strip heat from the stove too quickly. I think I will try it though as I can still control it through the fan control.

I think you will find if you run the fan on high while stove is in 1or2 it will strip the stove of heat even with the low rpm blower. The stove its designed with that blower for a reason. Also if you don't have a oak i would strongly suggest it.

Have an oak. As I said the blower on full bore on setting 1 or 2 works fine. I am used to a Whitfield Advantage 3 that could blow heat like crazy.
One of the downsides of digital control boards is the room fan is tied into the heat level selected. The old analog boards allowed you to adjust the room blower to wher ever you wanted . For safety purposes the new boards don't allow you to run on heat level 5 with the blower on 1, dangerous. The other way around doesn't hurt though, running on heat level 2 with the blower on 4 works fine on a clean stove burning good pellets, in my experience.
