Lignetics..false advertisement?

Stopped by local ace and saw that they had Lignetics, the green label. In the past, these have been all hardwood. I noticed on the bag that it is a blend of hard and softwood. Picture attached. If one were to read "made from the finest hardwood", they would assume its all hardwood. Am I over thinking this or is this pure trickery?

I don't know I burn whatever I can get cheap at the local Big Box store. Hardwood seems to be what you want to burn in your wood stove but it seems that soft what is what you want to burn in your pellet stove because it produces more heat?

Soft wood , Hard wood pellets that are compressed to the same pressure will produce the same BTUs
per pound of pellets

My issue is that the bag is portraying an all hardwood pellet which it is not.

Maybe they use a small amount of softwood to help with compressing? It could be a small percent that would require the blend label in the corner.

The bag label implies an all hardwood pellet but doesn't guarantee it. Sort of like Log Cabin "maple syrup" made with real maple syrup on the label. If you read the label contents, their maple syrup content is around 1% with the rest corn syrup.

I agree 100% johnen, It's what kind of wood waste are they mixing in with the pellets that we don't know about?

I bought six bags of Lignetics earlier this season to see if their burn quality has improved and I found that they were worse than ever when it comes to the amount of ash and clinkers. I had to clean my Quadrafire completely after burning the six bags I purchased, I think their mixing a lot of bark and crap in the sawdust before processing. I will never buy them again unless it's a last resort.

Many pellet plants are subsidizing with pallets. Most are hardwood but have many different kinds of contaminants. When they get shredded and pulverized it all goes into the mill. That may be why some are producing some god awful ash.

There is a severe shortage of raw materials in some areas. Most pellets are very dirty this year. We haven’t been able to get a load in a month.
