So I was outside this morning digging up my septic tank cover and had asked my wife to check the fire for me as I was heading out side. A while later she came out and said "your going to be mad, but...". She forgot about it and said that the stove top got to 600 degrees. I believe that she saw 600, but I don't think that's as high as it got. I doubt that it made it past 700 based on how long and the load size i had in there. Long story short, my new liner looks to be browny goldy color coming out of the 90 degree pipe (thimble?). It that normal for the pipe to change color? Or is that a sign of being way too hot?
Also my wife's first thought was to put more wood on the fire because the wood was cold. I have a lot more training to do!
