Looking for a pellet stove installer in Connecticut

So I am looking into getting a pellet stove and I am wondering if anyone knows of someone who installs them. The stove places want an arm and a leg for install and piping. I am looking for a licensed installer. This will be a free standing stove which will need to be vented right out the wall of my house.

I know that Northeast Chimney around the corner from my shop does them. (broken link removed)

They put a liner in the chimney at my brothers house cause his masonry chimney was shot and leaking (he's a wood burner) and he was happy with the work they did.

I can't speak personally to the company below, but saw that it got more than one good review from folks on Angie's list; owner is praised as knowledgable and willing to educate owners re: pellet stove cleaning. And not too far from you. Website gives some guidance for installation costs.

Note that there probably are some downsides to not using a dealer to install, i.e., you may need dealer support for warrantee work if you have problems. I gather, from reading across forums, that it can be easier--if not always easy--to get dealers to support work under warrantee when the dealer either recommended the installer OR installed it themselves. Others might be able to speak to this from experience, or if you are interested, post a separate thread with a title that will attract opinions on pros and cons of having dealer install or dealer-chosen instlaller install versus going it on your own.

My father in law has had a cheaper HD pellet stove for about 8 years without any issues. That is not to say that these stoves do not have issues however if they do you still have a factry warranty for parts and I understand labor is not that bad as these stoves for the most part are pretty easy to work on. The dealer will do the install however they are asking $100 for delivery, $300 for labor and another $500 for piping.

I will get a couple quotes on install and weigh out my options after I get those figures. If install is within $100-$200 I may just go with the dealer I get it from we will see.

Hi neighbor! I'm a new member and a new wood stove owner. My son-in-law just moved a mint condition, used Cumberland Gap stove into my house. I have an existing, rear vent, clay lined chimney that I need lined. I received a quote of $1,350.00. It's straight out the back (see pic) and straight up, about 15 ft. I'm a single female so I'm about as comfortable getting quotes for this as I am shopping for car tires. . I REALLY think this installer is good, but is the price reasonable? It sounds kind of high. Oh yeah, I also had a new chimney cap put on a year ago, if that matters. Thanks!

I am in Stafford ct .... installed all three of mine ... received good compliments when a warranty issue had repair guys come out ..... squire lumber has package deals and are good folks ,,,, mainline in ashford have good prices on parts and pellets ...... an install out a wall with minimal surprises should not take more than 2-4 hours and is about measure twice cutting hole once and just going step by step .... I did two out the wall here ..one in basement and one in sunroom .... my addiction created me to place an insert in the fireplace too close enough to email if ya want

Thank you everyone for the info. Over the next week I will be getting quotes on installs from a local chimney guy, chris at Mainline in Ashford and another place in Manchester that does stoves and installs. They all stated they will be less to install the stoves than the $800-$1k I have been seeing but we will see. I will report back as to what I find out.

Thanks. I definitely was it professionally installed. The thought of going up to bed with a blazing fire downstairs is going to take a while to get used to. Safety first!

Hello, and Welcome. Prices around here vary a lot. And from experience from seeing other people post here. Prices near us seem high to others. That is a good price for the shoreline of CT.

Hi 08spec- I know a couple of good installers that do good work- Al at Cedar Mountain stoves in Newington CT
Dan and Linda at Riteway chimney in Colchester. Both are good installers and do good work, good people to deal with too.

I have called several places and gotten several quotes and most of them are about $1,000 average for install and piping. I am not just going out witht he piping I am going out and up about 7ft up to the roof line. I was quoted $875 cash from a place (that I will not name but they sell and install stoves) just because I beat them up on price. After the install I will give up that info but I feel that its the best price I am going to get for what I want done.

So i have a friend who has a friend who owns a chimney company. They came out yesterday and gave me an unreal install price (because of my friend) which is much less than the price I quoted above. I am super excited now and cant wait to pickup my Harman P43 from Squier Lumber in Mass in the next couple weeks. I am probably going to check out the stove this Friday.

How did you like the install? I have a PE Summit insert wood stove in one room. And I moved to this house a few months ago and brought my lopi leyden I have had for 6 years with us. It sits in the corner and needs venting through the side of the house. I'm in the Bristol area

I am unsure if he will come all the way to Bristol (licensed in CT) but its worth giving him a call. He was in an out of my house in two hours and did a very nice and clean install. He is very careful and proper with all the work he does.

I found and installer $300 labor and 260-300 for parts. Going to try and wrap it up in the next week or two
