Does the Cape Cod free stander need any type of R rated thermal protection with the hearth, or just ember protection?

The manual states the hearth must be made from non-combustible material (duh), and at least 26 gauge or 0.018" thick. Nothing stated about thermal protection (R value) in the manual.

I'm wanting to put 1/2" slate down on top of 1/2" duroc for my hearth and just want to make sure the cape cod doesn't need any type of thermal protection with the hearth.

Thanks

The manual told it all. Just ember protection. Nobody here knows more about tested clearances for the Cape Cod than Lopi does.
