We purchased a Foxfire free-standing stove this fall, replacing our wood Heat. One of the reasons for doing this was to have the ability to have some heat provided to the house when we were not here. This unit has an electronic thermostat control with the option for also a manual setting.

It seems if we use thermostat program setting one, the stove ends up filling the burn pot with pellets when it goes into a cool down mode. Then it seems to block the igniter and cannot restart the stove. I have to clean it in order for it to work. We have had misfire errors doing this. I've tried adjusting the restrictor setting but it doesn't seem to help. It seems that normally it would be able to be operated with that said about in the middle, about half open. The only way I've been able to have the thermostat work consistently is if I leave it on the third, low burn setting.

I operated it on the low heat setting on the low burn thermostat for 2 or 3 days with no problems. Last night I kicked up the heat level and auto fan for a little bit to bring some more heat into the house. Then before bed I turn the thermostat back down and turn the heat level back down to one. Sure enough, it shut off, filled the burn pot with pellets, and never came back on during the night. I've called the dealer and they told me that I just need to make sure I have the restrictor set correctly. At this point we really are not getting the type of performance that we were expecting to have with a thermostat. Has anyone else had problems?
