We've been running our Lopi Leyden pellet stove for three years without a problem; however, this winter, it has billowed smoke on four different occasions.
The smoke pours from the blower, around the door, and from the top of the hopper. Each time it happens, the stove is running on the second yellow (medium) setting. After the first incident, we took apart the stove and did a thorough (annual) cleaning of the stove and vent, but it has happened again twice. We can run it on the first yellow setting without a problem, but that doesn't cut it all the time.
When it happens, the exterior of the stove is unusually hot. You can't touch the hopper or door handles. What should I check first?
