Lowes out of pellets

Really ! Went to lowes tonight and they are out of pellets.. how awesome..
Had to go to TSC and choose from Northeast pellets,( maines choice), the red bagged TSC brand pellets or green supreme..
So I got two Northeast, and two ofthe red bagged tsc brand.
Interesting note, just opened a bag of the northeast, and the pellets are white. Looked at the bag and it has bark free pellets.. First time ever opening a bag of maines choice, is this how the regular maines choice comes? How do they burn?

I really like the TSC brand "Hardwood Pellet Fuel" (made by Energex): high heat and low ash for a very good price.

"Having trouble keeping them in stock" Really? Does he mean the Hearthsides? Cuz, I found them to be horrible. Tons of ash, no heat to speak of. They don't even have a PFI cert. Not that that means much. I'd burn Green SuKpremes before Hearthsides again, and that happenin any time soon!

HD quit handling pellets in March last year in our area. This year will be interesting as we had one of the coldest recorded Decembers. And Jan. has started with some record cold too. Corn prices have went down some more to about $135 a ton. Firing the Bixby at night to supplement the Harman and ease up on pellet usage with the temps below 0.

Our local Lowes at the beginning of the season had Timber Heat, Presto Log, Natures Own and North American and a few pallets of some other misc. brands. Presto logs went pretty quick, they still have some Timber Heats and a bunch of Natures Own and a boat load of North Americans left and they are all from the first deliveries that they got at the beginning of the season. First time that I have ever seen our local Lowes not get pellets in except for the beginning of the season. Last year they were getting deliveries in every couple weeks, they are not selling anything this year.

On the flip side this is the first year that our local Home Depot has got Stove Chow in, we went with 2 tons of them to start (used one ton since October 31 and just cracked into the 2 ton this week). I am pretty happy with them so far, not to dirty and they throw off some really good heat.

I tried out a couple of bags of stove chow in my Cumberland MF 3800, and while they burned clean they also burned pretty fast. Granted it was last weekend when it was bitter cold out. Just my observation. BTW the Cumberland has been a real trouper through all of this cold.

+1 on the TSC Red Bag brand regarding heat. They seem to but out the same (if not more) heat than the premium Cleanfire Pacific I bought.

Can be just a temporary outage as trucking delays with the extreme cold weather. Was some pretty empty shelves at the grocery stores too.

I have no real experience with them, so I couldnt say either way for sure how they burn (I burned 10-20 bags of them when I first got my stove last march, along with some pennigtons, but it wasn't overly cold at that point)

Always amazed when someone tells me they burn "whatever" the store they go to has for sale. I mean the box store stuff isn't the best,but there sure are some that clearly burn better than others.
Also,I keep hearing people saying they're using 10% coupon @Blowes. I have tried at least 3 times over the last year at 2 diff stores. No combined discount is what they keep telling me. Must be a regional thing?

I just picked up a ton of Presto-logs from my local HD in NE PA, they are super dark compared to the last time I had them! Price also went up to 219.

Yup, I do.............. Any pellet I have put in the stove burns fine. The only difference is the amount of ash produced.
I was hard core Somersets, would buy a trailer load at a time 22 tons. I ran out one year, ran over to TSC bought what they had there, burned them and all was fine. So now I buy a ton at a time of whatever they have where I am. I have burned lots of brands to this point and the usage amount is negligable.

My BigE is the same way, doesn't care what I put in it, burns them right up, only difference is ash. I could probably pelletize my trash and it'd burn the same way.

I'm always amazed when I hear people pay $350.00 + for a ton of pellets!

Yeah all the non box store pellets are $300+ here. Yes even for NEWP. I got caught up in that mess being new and not knowing any better. After sampling everything else I'm sticking to the better box store stuff next year. Sets if I can find them or the AWF premium pellets.

EPA - New Rules, Many Stoves will become obsolete

The clock is ticking... One of the main reasons for buying this stove: consumption, pellets and electricity. Already had one ins. company tell us we were only allowed to burn one ton max per year at .06 g/hour, this stove is not even on their radar. What will you do if supply runs low or the price soars?
