Here comes the dumb question. I have an M55C FS stove and am trying to remove the convection blower. After disconnecting the wires and the motor mount I realize I will have to remove the side panel to get it out. The question is……………. How? I assume that it has to be lifted up and out. There are 4 bolts, 2 bottom – 2 top, securing it. The 2 bottom bolts appear to be loose enough already and I can only get at the front top bolt. I can’t get to the rear top bolt.

So now it appears that I have to remove the top of the stove to get to that bolt and to be able to raise the panel high enough to get it out. I thought this was going to be simple project. 3 wire connections and 2 blower mounting bolts. I guess not. Any help would be much appreciated. The wife will be home in about 5 hours. Thanks……..

Going by your owners manual and the parts break down i think your on the right track.

Whoa- isn't the FS like the insert, two 3/8 bolts come out and it slides out sideways?? You shouldn't have to take any castings loose. Just the metal panels on the sides.....check it out on youtube...

To pull either side Cast panel off you only have to remove the top panel and loosen the two top bolts on the side cast panel.

To remove the top panel you open the hopper fill door/plate and remove the two hinge bolts. Remove the fill door and 2 plastic retaining shims. The entire top will lift off. BTW, the control pad will just kinda float around so be careful. This will expose the top of the side panels.

To remove either side panel all you have to do is loosen the two top bolts (mine are chrome colored) and the panel will lift straight up and off.

Good Luck,

Well, that was easy. Thanks nailed_nailer. I thought about those to hinge bolts since the cover wasn't secured in the front. But, I thought I should ask. All done and up and running.

Just one thing while I am here. It was just running the stove on 4 for a couple of hours. So, I went to turn it down to 3. Don't ask my how but I hit the off button. I turned it right back on but it acted weird. It wasn't responding to the temp settings. When I put it on 5 the blower didn't go higher. When I put it on 1 it keep feeding pellets as if it were on 5, but the blower was low. The flame was getting fairly big. So I shut it off. Once it shuts down I'll unplug it to maybe that will rest it? Weird

When you turned it off and back on it went back into the startup mode.

Yep. After it shut down I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and it is working fine. I didn't mean to hit the off button and am wondering if a combination of the off button and another button sent it into confused mode.

Glad it worked out for you.

The side panes are a He!! of a lot easier to remove than the back panel. That thing takes me 20 minutes and I have to be a contortionist to get at the Torx screws and the Vent adapter. And it never seems to go back on correctly. Mine is a corner installation which makes it even harder.
