Magnum Baby Countryside #2 error

Thanks for reading my post-
I recently purchased a Magnum Baby countryside pellet stove off of craigslist for $200. I researched installing pellet stoves and this one in particular a little bit before giving it a shot in my shop. Got it hooked up, threw me a couple #2 blinking error lights and after resetting it worked like a charm (although not as hot as I had expected). I ran it a majority of the day maybe 6-8 hours. I did notice a lot of soot buildup on the glass. Seems unusual but not sure if that is normal? Turned it off in the evening and the next morning went to fire it back up and got a #2 error light that I haven’t been able to get by since. I installed a fresh air intake which according to the manual is optional. I also replaced the gasket on the door to no change. I can get the flame to start without tripping an error with the door open. Once I shut the door it will trip the error light in about 30 seconds.

Hoping for some guidance and possible solutions to this problem or if anyone has experienced anything similar?

I had a Baby for 12 years. It served me well but I found it had to be cleaned often. The #2 light blinking means that there is not enough vacuum present in the fire box. What surprises me is the light won't blink with the door open but it does with it closed. It should be the opposite. The vacuum switch is on the right side and is a round freestanding thing with two wires on it. As a test, (unplug the stove first) jump out the two wires at the switch and see if it works. If so, the switch could be bad. Also check the rubber hose that goes from the switch to the fire box. It needs to be clear.

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it.

I jumped the switch and it starts up now and begins to burn without tripping the #2 error!! Now though, however, the fan won’t kick on. It’s been running about 20 mins. The fan light will blink once about every 30 seconds but won’t kick on. running it on manual setting.

I have cleaned it to the best of my knowledge but I will go through that thread and give her a good cleaning this weekend. Been fortunate to have good weather this far so isn’t too bad in the shop right now.

Update. Fan just kicked on right after posting this. Took longer than the first time using it. Was about 10 mins maybe quicker.

The fan is activated by a switch that is on the exhaust pipe down stream of the combustion blower. If the stove isn't breathing properly the flow of air going out will be less and could delay the heating of the pipe. Follow the instruction on cleaning especially inside the horseshoe. If it is dirty up there the difference will be amazing
