To maintain the cast framework of our Hearthstone stove the dealer recommended painting it. What kind of paint? Otherwise, should we apply stove polish?

Paint yes. Try Stove Brite paint. Stove polish no. It will be very hard to paint in the future once stove polish is used.
Is this a black-painted stove? If so, Stove Brite satin black paint is a good choice.

It is black cast material - I've not applied anything to it since we installed it 10 years ago. It gets a bit of surface rust over the summer which I can remove with steel wool, but I would like to protect the metal more. I will look for the paint you suggest - need to do it quickly as winter is coming soon!

Older thread, here but I'm going to take a chance.

How did the Satin Black work out? I have the same problem. Did the paint match the rest of the stove?

My plan is to use the brush on stove brite paint.

I have used Stove Bright FLAT black on my Green Mountain 60 and it matched perfectly.

Thats good to know, thx. Did you paint the whole stove? Its just one leg of the cast on mine I want to paint. The stove everywhere else is clean.
I just painted the top of the stove, it got scuffed when I was transporting it. I purchased the stove new in December and it came with a tag stating that they used Stove Bright brand paint and recommend it for touch up. I used a spray can because the stove was still outside the house. I’m sure the brush on will give the same results.

Thats great info! Thanks for the help.

Ill give it a try.
