LOL not really Dave my old CDW was posted there with the bluestone hearth.. Just want to be current! I looked through loads of those pics trying to figure out how to do this hearth and there were no others so I had to improvise.. Hope this helps another woodburner sometimeOK Ray, now yer just showin' off.![]()
Here is the "before" pic Dave..Yep, I don't remember seeing that particular pic, but I have sometimer's.
No matter, it's still nice.
That's an inside chimney.. No heat loss.. Hmm were you kidding me as the chimney would keep the house cool in the summer? lol Wish it did!!You still have that massive chimney to conduct heat from the room to the outdoors?
LOL thanx that is actually a "living" cat but you have to stare to see it move lol..I like the old set up..........especially the stuffed cat.
Masonry is a good heat conductor/bad insulator & yes if the outer chimney was shaded & misted so to cool with evaporation? As is, the chimney is at room temp [warmer near the ceiling] & conducts heat from the room. Solution is to terminate the mortar below the ceiling & go thru ceiling with Metalbestos................ideallyThat's an inside chimney.. No heat loss.. That is certainly not happening here! This is a 2 flu chimney and the stove has an insulated S/S liner.. There nothing wrong with this setup at all..Masonry is a good heat conductor/bad insulator & yes if the outer chimney was shaded & misted so to cool with evaporation? Beautiful before and beautiful now.
The only thing "wrong" with that setup, is it ain't in my place. That's a beauty right there. A CThat is certainly not happening here! This is a 2 flu chimney and the stove has an insulated S/S liner.. There nothing wrong with this setup at all..
