I have a Phonenix stove and love it. The previous owner of my home has in stalled and a tiled hearth. I am updating that room and would like to take the stove off the hearth to rebuild/update. Too stinking heavy to move by hand. A friend said you can disassemble them to move them. I've searched the web and can't find anything to help. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Tom

It should be moved intact, not disassembled. Can a sheet of metal, or laminate, or 1/4 plywood be slipped under the legs so that it can be slid off of the hearth while sitting on the sheet? Or slip a section of plywood under the feet, then slip the foot of an appliance dolly under the plywood and ratchet strap the stove to the dolly. Once it has wheels under it, the stove will be much easier to move. If not. 2-3 people can move it. We (2 men and my son) set our almost 600# stove on our hearth.

Bottom lift is better, but just rock it back an inch to slide the plywood under the front legs then shift it forward to get the rear legs on the sheet. Another method is to put the plywood on rollers made from 1/2 or 3/4" pipe. I have used pvc pipe for this on occasion.
