Good news for me... My dad gave me his old 034 after it was sitting in his shed for 10 years with no spark plug in it. Over the summer I pulled the cylinder to ensure there was no dirt/ crud in the engine, it was clean. I noted the fuel line was shot so I replaced that. I also went through the chain and sharpened it.

I could get the saw to start up but it would over rev... Not being a two cycle expert I chickened out and brought it into the shop to have them finish what I started.

Got the saw back this afternoon and it started on the second pull and I used it to buck a birch log I have laying around waiting to be processed. The power of this saw over my old Poulan pro 295 is amazing... Almost a little concerning to me as I only have 3-4 years experience cutting my own firewood. Thankfully I have you guys who preach safety and PPE.

Can't wait for the weekend!!!! It will bring back memories of me hand carrying the logs out of the woods at our old Wisconsin cabin. This time I'll have a four wheeler and a hydraulic splitter.

What did the saw shop do to get it running right? Simple carb tune or a carb rebuild?

Rebuild. They said a diaphragm was ruptured. $120 later...

Ouch. They must've spent some time doing diagnostics, because I can't see how the carb rebuild alone would cost that much. Glad it's running well for you, though. They are very good saws.

Took 62 minutes and parts. Had to charge the full 2nd hour, lol.
