Moved, and on the fence on a natural gas heater, really like the free standing stoves , is non vented a good choice or go with vented, new or used.Any experience with the box store units,or stay with a expensive unit, or look for a used expensive unit?

Non-vented gas heaters are death traps, not sure how they're still legal in some places. Plus even if they don't give off enough CO to kill you they will stink up your house and cause humidity problems. I'd definitely go with a vented unit.

For the time being I believe I will go with electric, I'm not ready for the install of a fire place.
I added another convect heater right next to my pellet stove 2000W 240V. Love it. Not too expensive, and built in
digital thermostat. 5 different stages of heat so that it's not just on and off.
