Well, after months and months of research and measuring I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I purchased my stove and manufactured home chimney kit through Home Depot, double wall stove pipe from Northline Express.

I was most nervous about putting in the support box, but everything went great. I have finished the frame of the hearth, and put the first layer of plywood down.

To meet the high r-value requirement of this stove I'm using two layers of 5/8 mglass; a fiberglass coated gypsum board. Then two layers of durock, and tile on top. Mglass layer is .59, and durock is .41. The mglass was only 21.00 for a 4x8 sheet.

I have all my materials, except tile. Now I just need the time to finish it.

The subfloor wasn't level so I had to use some shims.

Mglass is not non combustible just fire rated it cant be used in that application

What exact product is the matt glass gypsum board? I've never used it but I see that GlasRoc is rated noncombustible when tested in accordance with ASTM E136. It's rated R=.57 in 5/8" sheets, or .45 in 1/2" sheets. Durock NexGen is rated R=.39 for 1/2" sheets.

Here is the product website and info. I was able to find it locally stocked at a drywall supply company.

They give m-glass the same ASTM E136 rating of non-combustible. Thermal Resistance “R” Value 1/2” = 0.50, 5/8” = 0.61
 
nice, wish i'd have known about this when i was building my hearth, oh well live and learn.

UPDATE: Well I've been busy with other things and haven't had time to work on the hearth. But, put in some hours this weekend.

I'm no tile pro by any means, so it took me a while and a few messed up pieces. But, got it sorta figured out. Now I just need to thin set and grout it.

What make/model of tile is that? Definately nice looking.
 
Unique looking hearth ... I like it.
 
I love the porcelian tile that looks like wood. I have a dark version of that in my mud room. Looks great up against white trim.
