Having a hard time picturing this? Is the depth of the stove which is 31" including the rear heat shield and blower? Also from the rear of the stove what is the distance to the flue exit?

31 inches looks to be from the tip of the ash fender to the back of the heat shield (stove's at 700 degrees, and I only have a plastic ruler handy, so I can't give you exact)

It appears that the rear most part of the flue collar has a distance of 4 inches to the back of the heat shield.

The 31" is from the front edge of the ash catcher ledge to the very back of the rear heat shield.

The distance from the very back of the rear heat shield to the OUTER rear of the flue opening is 4inches.
(about 7.5 to the center of flue hole)

Thanks having 2nd thoughts hope it fits it has arrived at store and I pick it up tommorow. My only concern is where liner will drop into the stove it needs to sit back further than my current one
I'm thinking more bricks need to be removed than previously planned unless the flex liner can do a good bend toward that back wall
I have 40" from back of fire place opening to lip of raised hearth
I found someone said that the flue exit on the nc-30 is roughly 21 inches from the front lip of stove so I based it all off of that. But when measuring it doesn't seem right or I'm having a very rough time visualizing

Any chance anyone could do a simple sketch of the top of the stove showing dimensions specifically the flue exit and how far it is from either end?
What's the distance from ashpan front lip to the top front lip of stove?

There is about 6" of fan back there too if you want that -I had to mod mine to get it to fit my configuration and hearth

From the bottom of the ash pan to the top of the stove is 23".

Oops... that didn't work.

4" from back to flue edge
9" from sides to flue edge
17.5 from front edge to flue edge.

Sorry meant like looking down on stove if the ash drawer sticks out how much further does it stick out than the rest of the stove
If you mean the distance from the ash catcher ledge to the stove top lip,,,,then 3.5".

From stove back to front top edge is 27.5".
From stove back to very front edge of ash catcher lip is 31".
So a difference of 3.5".

Be a hell of a lot easier if they just had it in manual lol I appreciate your help going to re measure visualize for the 15th time

Your post disappeared as I was responding... it is not 21.5,,,ya forgot the 6inch of the flue in your math.

Yea I deleted had a brain fart hah
I'm thinking the nc30 is going to roughly sit where current stove is. I want it as far out of fp as possible just do not want to over hang the hearth at all

That is correct.
You have 17.5" from flue front to stove front edge. And then an extra 3.5" of length that comes from just the ash catcher ledge.

Get your self a good shoehorn and some Vaseline. :p

I think what really messed me up was the extra 3.5 from ash drawer and picturing is very rough because the current insert has a massive oval. Just hope this flexible liner can handle this S curve that I'm going to put on it.

I don't think getting my liner down will be any trouble it's just I may have to get aggressive with a bend once I get it to the stove top. Very hard to picture where it's going to sit. Also this install is being done mid winter and is my only source of heat ! I have someone helping who has done this only once . I really hope a snag doesn't happen that prevents completion

Can those adapters be used in both directions? To extend further out and further into a fp?

I haven't used one personally, but I would surmise by the looks of the design that it should be able to gain you distance in either (or both) directions.

Also, there are others on the market, that's just the first one that popped up that I put in the post so you had a visual of what an offset adapter for an insert looked like.

Personally I wouldn't do the offset adapter. It will make chimney cleaning a nightmare.

Use a 15 or 30 degree fixed stainless elbow as needed.

Elbow does look like a better fit. Going to try and use zero adapters elbows until install I just hope zero snags like I said it's my only heat. Also let's say I have to knock some bricks out. Can roxul be used stuffed full against the liner and the chiseled bricks if I do not have time to cut a piece of sheet metal to fill that void? I'm doing a block plate but I'm guessing that gap of bricks will cause an issue with fabrication

The elbow in the pic is mine going directly into the flue collar of a 30-NC half in and half out of a fireplace. The only close fit was at the front. I cut a piece of sheet metal and put it in front of the liner to keep the bricks from cutting into the liner.
