Got some help recently from brother Bart regarding my new ac-30 blower. My ac-16 smaller blower should arrive tomm. For those of you with the blower how far do you feel a good push of air from the ac-16 on full speed? My ac-30 is toast from the factory I believe and is putting off a lousy amount of air on full.

I have the 16. I only use it on low as that is all I need. I easily feel the blower 6' from the front of the stove on low. Huge difference on high, but I do not need that. Low keeps the stove room at 80 for me. But the 30 is only responsible for about 700 sq ft of heating.
Im interested to hear what people think of the 16. Not really a fan (pun intended) of the AC30 I've got now. It's two speeds are loud and insanely loud.
The 16 is two speed. I though the 30 was variable speed. The 16 looks like a hairdryer and the 30 is a box.
I have the OEM ac16 and I can hear it run. If I want to cool the stove or move heat into the room then I turn on the boxfan. The "hot" air being "blown" off of the stove with the AC16 blower on high is not impressive or worth the noise. The house stove is a BK with a very superior fan system that blows real heat over the rear and top of the stove.
I am glad that I didn't pay extra for the AC16blower. The old days when the blower air was channeled around and sometimes through the stove resulted in a better blower experience. The NC30 blower just cools the gap between the rear of the stove (mostly firebrick) and the rear heat shield. There is so much more potential heat exchanger area.

I mispoke. I have the OEM 16. As Highbeam put it, it is neither impressive or worth the noise.
Eh, it's noisy, but it works for me. On low, the blower really helps move heat around and extends the burn cycle.
Is there a product that I can seal up the bottom of the rear heat shield with? Blower trying to drW and push pull air I think is realtly hindering it. My old insert was sealed and the blower launched air just strictly pushing and no open chamber for the blower to try and draw also. Any insulatik. That would hold up to the heat off the back of the firebox?
I noticed this too. I suspect that the gap on the bottom of the heat shield must remain open to provide a passive heat shield. As with wall shields, the heat shield only works if it is ventilated top and bottom to allow natural convection through the gap.
Right but it's severely killing blowers performance and when I took a second look at my insert it I would like it to function the same. It will still get air but not the quantity it receives now I talked to englander tech support and didn't seen to bring up much of a concern to them . But I was thinking some thick rope gasket and some gasket sealer? The black stuff they use on the door? Hope it's the same but basically taking that opening on the bottom and choking it down. Any other method I'm all ears boys and girls I need this blower to equally perform as the insert did. I know that gaining 3-4" onto hearth will help and so will a full block plate
Glad I'm not alone because blower by itself blows a great amount of air but in stove it has the force of 100 lb girls fart
