I'm a newb herewhat's going on.i bought a ef3 insert pellet stove used and did barter with the guy. Got it last year anyways the damper never worked (would not move ) also had two chimney fires.this is my first pellet stove and was doing the weekly and ton of pellet cleanings on it.i have a 3 inch brush with a 25 ft rod for the pipe. Here's what's going on.3 weeks ago.it was spitting out black smoke. After it was cool I saw it was black and behind the plates a portion of the metal was melted. The guys I bought it from he did wrk for a stove place now does stuff on the side. Came down showed me the blower was black and cleaned the flu.then fixed the damper(witch in my opinion pulling it out or I. Seems to do nothing to a lazy flame.so a day later mind you after he clean out the flu with my 25 ft rids and brush.had another chimney fire at 1 am dog barking as well as smoke alarm going got up I whole house was filled with smoke.anyways I called him he said just clean the flu and you will be all set.after doing that there was huge amounts of what looked like black star foam coming out of the flu. So it's been 3 weeks and I notice when outside that my chimney is spitting out smoke like its a wood fire place and the glass gets black within a few hours. What my research tells me is that the reason for that is it's not vented well.So I researched and bought a harman p35i trading in this one .but it's not being installed for another week. Here in Connecticut it's single digits.so what I'm doing now is getting the rods and doing a flu cleaning every few days.My question is this.Is there anything I can do in the mean time till my harman comes instead of cleaning the flu so often?Because it shouldn't get that dirty that fast.Or just hang with the punches till the harman get here?i did a door draft Chk and seals on the Tea seam ok.buy the way the harman was bought at a actual store and it's getting installed professionally.Sorry for saying so much. I'm a newb and wanted to explain as much as possible. Thank for your time.

Sounds like you need to clean the intake as well as the flue. A lazy flame in a pellet burner can also be caused by restricted or even blocked combustion air...

Is there an air adjustment on your stove. With your venting being clean, it sounds like it's suffocating to me.

I'm new to this.there was a damper on the side witch I thing is a air adjuster?if so that never worked and it was fixed to wear it can go in or out but in my opinion it does nothing to the flame.

Not sure what is wrong there.....Chimney fires in pellet stoves are rare.....something ain't right.

Here is the list of available manuals from Enviro. Not sure what EF-3 you have
Find yours in the Present List or one of the Archived Manuals to get you started.

Here is the Enviro Technicians Service manual for pellet stoves. Heed the front page warning.

If you find this too complicated a process its probably time to call in a good Tech.
There are many available.
Sounds like your "Service Guy" was taking guesses at the problem.
Might be time to call in a pro.

Good Luck,

Thank you very much. That was what I expected on your second manual it showed pics and my problem is not enough oxygen. It's says to open the damper witch never worked from day one. Now it moves but still makes no difference in flame bursts.gnna clean it again and pray my new stove coming is nothing like this one. Thank you all for your time and replys. What a great forum this is:) CTCarl
