Well I bought a harman tl300 used off craigslist, so first off a question about that. Is there anything I need to check/replace/clean ? the stove looks good, nothing wrong as far as I can tell. Also I would love some suggestions on stove pipe brands/quality. From my stove I'm going straight up through the roof to the outside, should be fairly simple as soon as I figure out the pitch of the ceiling and roof. I've been reading that at least 14' is needed, but does taller help the draft? I'm planning on setting it in a corner on a homemade base (yet to be made, lol) probably lay some tile on plywood and trim it. also planning on buying some "brick" paneling and installing with spacers. I know this is alot to ask, any advise is welcome!

Congratulations. Type in TL300 in the Search box above and you will get a lot of threads on this stove. If you can go up to 16ft easily on the flue that would help.

Welcome to the forum Oklaguy77.

Yes, taller chimney will draw better. Like BG stated, 16' is nice. You also need to keep the height above the roof rules in mind. Chimneys must extend a minimum of 3' above roof penetration. If the chimney is close to the peak, then it needs to be 2' taller than the peak.

Are you installing the chimney yourself? Check out http://www.dynamitebuys.com/. Sean is very helpful in getting you what you need, and prices are good. Shipping is included in the pricing on the website.
As for quality, they are all made to meet the same specs. Some are made better than others. I personally went with Selkirk MetalBest. ICC's Excel is generally considered top of the line. Depends on what you can spend.

Yes I am going to install the chimney myself. I have some framing/carpentry experience but I don't know anything about chimenys....but I'm in the process of learning! Thanks for the link and advice!
