I am having a problem latching the front door of my Equinox. The latch mechanism is fine, brand new. The groove that the latch moves into seems to be the problem. Before I invest $300 in a replacement for part 56 (the fram containing the receiver for the latch), however, I want to be sure that this part is faulty. Here's a picture of the latch grove on my stove and a picture of part 56. If any of you could take a picture of the same part on your Equinox and post it here, I could compare it to mine and I would be very grateful. If that is too much trouble, could you tell me how my picture compares to the corresponding part of you Equinox. Many thanks. thanks.

How does the new latch compare to the old? Is it identical, except for wear?

Got it, so is the door not sealing well with new latch?

It seals ok. But the latch is iffy. I have to find just the right angle to keep the door closed. That's now how it used to be, when I would turn the latch all the way to get a good seal. Now I turn it something like 3/4, and I wire it shut before I go to bed, just in case.

Yes. The tension spring was replaced. Yes. Got that document and followed the instructions. There is nothing wrong with the latch itself..

My concern is that replacing the frame (receiver) may not alleviate the issue. How old is the stove and how long has this been an issue?

The stove is about ten years old. This issue emerged about a month ago. I think the best way to determine whether the frame is the issue goes back to my first posting. If I can get pictures of the latching receiver on other owners' Equinoxes, I should be able to know if my frame needs to be replaced.
Thanks for all your help. But I am rather disappointed that not a single Equinox owner here has responded to my request for pictures of their stoves.

People usually come to the site when they have issues. And there have not been many Equinox owners posting here since the stove came out. I think calling their technical staff may be the best answer.
